ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP:

• Bird Banding Proficiency: Demonstrate the ability to handle, band, and age passerines independently to qualify for a bird banding sub-permit within the first year of their PhD program.
• Fieldwork Commitment: Be willing to reside in metro Vancouver and conduct fieldwork during the winter months.
• Public Engagement: Show eagerness to engage and work with members of the public, including conducting research in people’s yards and other public areas.
• Technical Skills: Have experience using GIS and R for ecological research. Previous fieldwork experience in ecology is also considered an asset.
• Bird Identification: Possess proficient skills in identifying BC birds by sight and sound.
• Leadership and Management: Be capable of leading and managing large field crews, including scheduling and communicating effectively with a diverse group of people.
